Each search is typically divided into the following phases:
Discovery/Needs Analysis
Understand the culture of client’s organization through extensive meetings/discussions with key staff members, Board members and stakeholders
Develop the position description
Qualifications/Evaluation
Identify qualified candidates through targeted research, database review, and direct sourcing with executives in the field, as well as internally generated candidates — all with a focus on diversity
Interview candidates to assess their strengths and limitations
Present best-qualified candidates to client/search committee
Consideration/Selection
Work with the client to schedule and orchestrate candidate interviews, constantly consulting with the client and candidates throughout the process
Narrow the diverse candidate pool from first round interviews, to second round interviews and eventually to finalists
Conduct reference checks on successful candidates
Facilitate offer, negotiation and acceptance
Follow up with placement and client over the course of first year for successful onboarding and transition
